Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work. 

Job Description

Memorial Sloan Kettering is seeking a Waste Management Specialist to follow established hospital procedures for handling, containment, and disposal of solid and infectious waste. This role will be located at our BAIC location. 

 

You Will: 

 

  • Ensure all hazardous and regulated medical waste is properly scanned, segregated, packaged, transported and staged for removal
  • Transport full or empty regulated medical waste bins using tugger from dock to waste management room. All regulated medical waste bins must be closed prior to transport
  • Scan all waste brought into waste management room for low levels of radioactivity utilizing scintillators
  • Separate and stage radioactive waste for removal from waste management room by the Radiation Safety Department
  • Weigh full regulated medical waste bins and document weight
  • Package, tag and label pathological and regulated medical waste according to regulatory standards
  • Transport packaged pathological waste or regulated medical waste in closed leakproof bin using tugger to stage on dock(s) for removal
  •  Ensure that mops are cleaned and disinfected for use throughout the facility
  • Clean and disinfect the waste management room walls and floor
  • Organize all bins and equipment
  • Ensure waste management room is floor is free of debris
  • Dry mop waste management room floor

 

You need: 

 

  • Ability to read, write and understand basic instructions

 Schedule: 

 

Monday-Friday, between the hours of 4pm-1am.  Weekends as needed 

 

Pay Range $22.11-$30.62
