Analytics Consultant for Home Lending Insights

About the Role

Work with our US-based Home Lending Data Strategy team and provide data support. Contribute towards consulting with end users across multiple organizational levels to drive data driven solutions in Home Lending Servicing. Work with the team to translate business needs into analytical designs and recommendations. Perform business analyses and/or data modeling. This will include providing insights based on developing analytical strategies, performing analytical support and/or data modeling regarding default related business initiatives. Ensure adherence to data management regulations and policies. Projects will include Default Servicing regulatory, litigation, and remediation related matters.

Department Overview:

This position supports the Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) team within the Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) group under Consumer Lending (CL) LoB. The BIA team provides reporting and analytic support to drive business insights and enable management oversight for operational, regulatory and internal functions for the WFHL group. The group supports sales, fulfillment, underwriting, operations, quality, compliance, servicing and support functions for the Wells Fargo Home Lending Business.

In this role, you will:
  • Assist in business requirement discussions on current and historical data reporting needs.
  • Respond to business analytical requests.
  • Develop MIS around home mortgage, home equity loans or lines, and create reports to assist business decisions.
  • Contribute towards building internal partnerships that facilitate sharing of analytics results across business lines.
  • Partner with the team to identify key findings with the goal of making recommendations to senior management.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Analytics projects with knowledge of business analysis, modeling and reporting.
  • Engineering Graduate/ Post-graduate from a reputed institution.
  • Hands on experience of working with SAS/Tableau/VBA/Teradata SQL.
  • SAS: Ability to perform analysis, build hypothesis, draw conclusions and communicate clear, actionable recommendation to business leaders & partners.
  • SQL: access, combine, calculate. Create temp tables. Structure data for common BI needs such as drilling or side-by-side comparison, with BI tool recalculating measures as needed.
  • Consultative skills: have the ability to rationalize business need and contribute towards solution design from people not knowing how to ask precisely for what they need.
  • Simple work documentation skills. Requirements, query documentation, testing.
  • Detail oriented. Accuracy is key.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to perform analysis, build hypothesis, and contribute towards drawing conclusions and clear communication of actionable recommendations to business leaders & partners.
  • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management.
  • Experience in Analytics, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • BI: experience with creating visualizations. Dashboard development experience involving multiple views that all respond to navigation/filter/etc. Ability to create cube behind report that can be reused for self-service by other analysts working on the same domain (and/or, to reuse cube created by others where expedient). Prefer Tableau (these skills are transferable across tools as well).
  • Prior experience working with regulatory, or legal projects in Default Home Lending Servicing.
  • Prior experience with Consumer Lending lines of business and systems of record. Familiar with Underwriting tool data, loan modification, and Mortgage life cycle.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Technical skills that can take data and turn into a presentation/story and articulate the story surrounding the data to senior leaders in the organization.
  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.
